A door closes for Tedesco’s succession: “For the moment, it will not be possible” – All football

Domenico Tedesco is still the coach of the Red Devils, while the play-offs to remain in the Nations League A are held in two months. One of the most often mentioned avenues to succeed him is to be forgotten.

All of Belgium is waiting for an official decision regarding Domenico Tedesco: will Vincent Mannaert decide to launch the year 2025 (and his mandate as technical director of the Belgian Union) with a dismissal, or will he give one last chance to the coach of the Red Devils?

If Tedesco leaves, it will also be necessary to discuss options to replace him, because the next deadlines are close and crucial. At the end of March, Belgium will face Ukraine in the play-off to remain in Nations League A.

Among the names mentioned, we often cite Hein Vanhaezebrouckfree since the end of last season. But the former coach of La Gantoise, now a consultant, seems to be enjoying his sabbatical year and does not plan to return to service any time soon, even if he sees himself working with Vincent Mannaert.

Vanhaezebrouck will not replace Tedesco

“We always ask ourselves that because I’m not the easiest person, but I’ve always been able to work well with people with whom I had a close relationship, like Van Holsbeeck and Devroe in Anderlecht or Louwagie and De Witte in Ghent” , he points out. “So why wouldn’t it work with Mannaert?”

The question is rather whether VHZB would accept the position, and he says no. “For the moment, it would not be possible, anyway. I am not going to accept anything at the moment,” he confirms in the Nieuwsblad. A closed door therefore, for Vincent Mannaert, which could have consequences: it is hard to imagine the technical director parting ways with Tedesco if he does not have a replacement on hand.
