(Ottawa) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is scheduled to speak to the press at 10:45 a.m. Monday after reflecting on his political future. A crisis has shaken his government since the resignation of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland on December 16, the same day she was to deliver her economic update.

The Globe and Mail reported Sunday that the Prime Minister would announce his resignation by Wednesday. A meeting of the Liberal Party’s national caucus is scheduled for that day.

The Prime Minister carried out a reshuffle of his Cabinet a few days after the departure of his Finance Minister, but he did not respond to questions from the media.

Meanwhile, media reports that his potential successors are active, including the former governor of the Bank of Canada, Mark Carney, and Mr.me Freeland who remains an MP and plans to run again in the next federal election.

The three opposition parties, the Conservative Party, the Bloc Québécois and the New Democratic Party, indicated that they no longer had confidence in the government, leaving the possibility of an election in the spring.

Further details will follow.
