NARRATIVE – While Joe Biden only appears sporadically, his successor is already exercising his influence from Mar-a-Lago, awaiting his effective return to power on January 20.
The year is off to a triumphant start for Donald Trump. Four years after the fateful day of January 6, 2021, which saw his supporters enraged by his defeat force the doors of the Capitol to interrupt the certification of the results, the president-elect can savor his extraordinary political resurrection. This Monday, Congress will meet again in plenary session, in accordance with the American Constitution, but this time to certify its victory. Additional satisfaction, the electoral count will be chaired by his rival in the presidential election, Vice-President Kamala Harris.
Two weeks later, Trump will return to the Capitol in person during the inauguration ceremony on January 20. It is his other rival, Joe Biden, who will proceed according to custom with the transfer of power, which Trump had refused him four years previously, leaving Washington before the ceremony.
