A 5.5 magnitude earthquake shook Ethiopia on Friday, January 3, after a volcano erupted.
A volcano has erupted after months of increased seismic activity in Ethiopia. This eruption was accompanied by a 5.5 magnitude earthquake, report the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (CSEM) and local media.
The magnitude 5.5 quake struck about ten kilometers deep at 8:01 p.m. local time, 55 kilometers northwest of the town of Asbe Teferi, near the border between the Afar and of Oromia, specifies the CSEM. No injuries have yet been reported.
