The President of the Republic of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, declared that his country's sole objective is to enable peace and stability in the region, starting with Syria.
The Turkish Head of State spoke on Wednesday at the meeting of the AK Party parliamentary group in the Turkish parliament.
He first returned to the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane in Kazakhstan.
“On behalf of our nation, I convey our condolences and wishes for a speedy recovery to the two brotherly countries,” he said.
Erdogan then spoke at length about developments in Syria following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
He first wanted to salute once again “the marvelous victory of the Syrian people after 13 years”.
He continued: “We are very happy every time we see the Free Syrian flag alongside our own flag in (the Syrian cities of) Aleppo, Damascus, Hama, Homs, Daraa and Manbij.”
The Turkish president recalled that Türkiye has never abandoned the Syrian people, that it has opened its doors to them despite the harmful propaganda of those who want to sow the seeds of racism between Turks and Syrians.
“We will provide all the support Syria needs,” he assured, insisting that Türkiye will continue to support Syrians in building the new free Syria.
Regarding Syrian refugees living in Türkiye, he affirmed that no one will be sent back to Syria by force, and that Türkiye will accompany those who want to return home.
“Our sole objective is to ensure peace, prosperity and stability throughout our region, starting with Syria,” he stressed.
On this occasion, he criticized those who have difficulty digesting the departure of Bashar al-Assad.
“It is obvious that those who have been mourning Assad for three weeks intend to pour out on the oppressed the anger of the loss of their allies in Damascus,” he lambasted.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan subsequently recalled Türkiye's determination to eliminate the terrorist threat in Türkiye, but also in Syria.
“We will achieve our goal of a Türkiye free of terrorism by using all the tools at our state's disposal,” he said.
And to continue in conclusion: “We will remove those who want to dynamite our eternal brotherhood with the Kurds. We will eliminate the terrorist organization which is trying to build a wall of blood between our Kurdish brothers and sisters. If the terrorist organization has a plan, We also have our own plan.”
