The former Democratic president and his family “are deeply grateful for the care received” at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, and are “touched by the kind messages and wishes for a good recovery that he received,” said declared his deputy chief of staff Angel Urena on the social network X.

This advisor had announced the hospitalization the day before of the former tenant of the White House after he had “contracted a fever”.

Bill Clinton has experienced numerous health problems in the past, and had already had to be hospitalized in 2021 when a urinary infection turned into sepsis.

In 2004, he underwent quadruple coronary bypass surgery to free four blocked arteries, as well as an angioplasty in 2010.

President of the United States from 1993 to 2001, the Democrat won the White House at just 46 years old and served two terms driven by America's prosperity, but marred by scandals, including the famous Monica Lewinsky affair.

He experienced a second public life after the presidency, in the form of a decade devoted to humanitarian works with his foundation, or high-flying diplomatic missions, however increasingly in the shadow of his wife Hillary Clinton, head of American diplomacy under Barack Obama then unsuccessful candidate for the White House in 2016 against Donald Trump.
