Former US President Bill Clinton, 78, was hospitalized Monday in Washington with a fever, his deputy chief of staff said on X.

“President Clinton was admitted to Georgetown University Hospital this afternoon for testing and remains under observation after contracting a fever. His morale is good and he is grateful for the quality of care received,” wrote Angel Ureña on X.

The one who was the 42e President of the United States should be back home by Christmas, Mr. Ureña also suggested, according to CNN.

President of the United States from 1993 to 2001, Bill Clinton has already had to be hospitalized in the past, such as in 2021, when he developed a urinary infection which turned into sepsis.

In 2004, he underwent quadruple coronary bypass surgery to free four blocked arteries as well as an angioplasty in 2010.

Bill Clinton, a brilliant Democrat who won the White House in the early 1990s, served two presidential terms driven by America's prosperity, but marred by scandals, including the famous Monica Lewinsky affair.

He experienced a second public life after the presidency, in the form of a decade devoted to humanitarian works with his foundation, or high-flying diplomatic missions, however increasingly in the shadow of his wife Hillary Clinton, unsuccessful candidate for the White House in 2016.
