Republic of Korea police conducted a closed-door interrogation of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo over President Yoon Suk-yeol’s imposition of martial law, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency said Friday.
SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) — The Republic of Korea Police conducted a closed-door interrogation of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo over President Yoon Suk-yeol’s imposition of martial law, the official said Friday. South Korean news agency Yonhap.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NOI) conducted closed-door interrogation of Mr. Han, who served as acting president following Mr. Yoon’s impeachment, as a suspect in the martial law case emergency imposed by the head of state on the night of December 3, but revoked by the National Assembly a few hours later.
The NOI questioned nine government members as suspects or witnesses who participated in the meeting held shortly before the declaration of martial law.
Among the twelve people who participated in the council of ministers, the deposed president, the defense minister and the unification minister were excluded from the NOI’s questioning.
The impeachment motion against the president was adopted by the National Assembly on December 14 and sent to the Constitutional Court to deliberate for 180 days, during which his executive powers are suspended.
