The British Foreign Office announced the transfer of tens of millions of shekels to the Gaza Strip due to the “catastrophic humanitarian situation” which reigns there according to the British government.

Anneliese Dodds, the British Minister for International Development, indicated at a conference in Cairo for humanitarian aid to Gaza that her country would release 88 million shekels for this cause and add another 30 million shekels which will be paid directly to UNRWA.

“Britain is committed to supporting the most affected communities in the region and commits additional funding to UNRWA and to support reforms to the Palestinian Authority. Israel must act immediately to ensure the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza,” the British minister said.

Remember that UNRWA is in the crosshairs of the Israeli authorities since several of its employees directly participated in the massacres of October 7 and held hostages in their homes. A law was even passed by the Knesset to expel the offices of this UN agency from Israeli territory and cut all ties between it and Israel.

Furthermore, the Coordinator of Israeli Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) who is in charge of coordinating the passage of humanitarian aid into Gaza stressed yesterday that only 7% of humanitarian aid that entered the Strip of Gaza in November was taken over by UNRWA.

”Dozens of humanitarian organizations operate in the Gaza Strip and continue to play an increasing role in distributing humanitarian aid to people in need. Last week, more than 1,000 trucks carrying humanitarian aid were collected from the various crossing points and distributed throughout the Gaza Strip,” COGAT said.
