“I felt so many conflicting emotions”: she discovers she was adopted and has been friends on Facebook with her biological father for 3 years

After extensive research on social networks, shortly after discovering her birth certificate, she ended up finding her biological father, with whom she had been friends on Facebook for years without knowing it.

The story is that of a Georgian journalist, Tamuna Museridze, and begins when the one who raised him died in 2016. Tamuna empties her house and discovers a birth certificate in her name and with another date of birth according to the BBC. She understands that she was adopted. She created a Facebook group called I am looking forto try to find his biological parents.

During her investigation she uncovers a vast baby trafficking scandal across Georgia that has affected tens of thousands of lives. Parents were told that the newborn had died in order to then sell the baby. “I was a reporter on this story, but it was also a personal mission for me” says Tamuna.

“She wanted nothing to do with me.”

Finally, in the group she had created, someone told her they knew a woman who had given birth in September 1984 in Tbilisi, the capital, and had hidden her pregnancy. She ends up having his contact and manages to call him. “She started screaming, screaming, she said she hadn't given birth to a child. She didn't want anything to do with me” says Tamuna.

Finally, Tamuna takes a DNA test which confirms their relationship. Her biological mother then explains to her that she is not part of the trafficking of stolen children, simply that she wanted to have the baby adopted after a short adventure and agrees to give her the name of her father, Gurgen, which Tamuna will find on Facebook, since they had been friends for 3 years.

“He didn't even know my biological mother was pregnant. It was a huge surprise for him.” says Tamuna. They then met. “It was strange, as soon as he looked at me he knew I was his daughter”she remembers. “I felt so many conflicting emotions” she says. As for Tamuna's mother, the latter asked her to lie by making her look like a stolen child. Refusing to lie, the two women never spoke again.
