Two days before the end of COP29, discussions between States are tense in Baku. No notable progress was obtained around the major issues of the conference, including the famous financial amount intended to help the countries of the South to fight against climate change. “Now is when the hardest part begins,” admitted the Azerbaijani coordinator of the negotiations, Ialtchine Rafiev, while the final text of the conference still seems out of reach. The next few nights promise to be short for the negotiators.
