Four men were arrested following protests on the sidelines of former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visit to Northern Ireland on Thursday.
Police said they would maintain a presence in the Queen’s University area of Belfast following minor disturbances during a pro-Palestinian demonstration earlier today.
The former US presidential candidate was speaking on the final day of the Global Innovation Summit 2024 at the university, of which she is chancellor.
The demonstrators chanted “shame” and waved Palestinian flags and a cutout of Mrs. Clinton with blood on her hands.
Footage taken from outside the room where Clinton was speaking showed heated exchanges and scuffles between protesters and police.
The four men, arrested following a disturbance in the University Road area of south Belfast, were taken into custody on suspicion of having committed numerous crimes, police said.
