After the chaotic visit of King Felipe and Queen Letizia to the angry victims, organized around ten days ago, and cut short due to threats to the security of sovereigns, the King of Spain no longer risks meeting the population. King Felipe and Queen Letizia had been the targets of projectiles and dangerous crowd movements, while the population wanted to express their anger and dismay against the authorities.

Around 2,500 soldiers are now based in Bétera since the floods and in total, more than 8,400 soldiers are deployed in the region at the moment. Some soldiers come to the aid of the various emergency services, others lend a hand to the logistics services which help clear and secure the streets.

During this visit King Felipe was accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles and Lieutenant General Francisco Javier Marcos, who is the head of the Military Emergency Unit. King Felipe VI also flew over affected areas and was able to observe equipment and vehicles, including amphibious vehicles. King Felipe also boarded the amphibious assault ship “Galicia”.
