It has become a tradition, every year, when the holiday season arrives, the garden and the facade of this house in Lantefontaine (Meurthe-et-Moselle) light up. Hundreds of people attended the inauguration this year. Preparing the decor took this family almost six months, reveals France Bleu.
If the visit is completely free, Mathieu Przybylsky, the son of the family, wanted to offer something new for a fee. “We added a new paid point to be able to donate visitors’ donations to a charity, the League Against Cancer,” he declared. You had to pay 5 euros to have a photo with the Grinch.
An inauguration gone wrong
This initiative was frowned upon. Visitors did not necessarily understand that the entire amount would be donated to a charity. So there was annoyance and insults. “We were accused of wanting to do business with the illuminated house,” laments Mathieu.
Insults, papers on the ground, incivility, the family is looking for a solution to reopen in good conditions. But the son abandoned his fundraising initiative. He still hopes to be able to reopen the Christmas lighted house this week.
