As the American actor returns to the forefront, he recounts his mother's surprising birthday gift and the ludicrous scene that followed.
Armie Hammer received an unusual gift from his mother, Dru Hammer, for his 38th birthday this year. In a new episode of the American actor's podcast, simply called The Armie HammerTime Podcast and revealed this Tuesday, November 12, his mother revealed that she had offered a medical operation to her son, and not just any operation: a vasectomy. Also called “contraceptive sterilization,” this operation consists of cutting the vas deferens, two small tubes connecting the testicles to the prostate, to prevent the passage of sperm.

They dared to have a vasectomy: they say
“My mother will call you and she will pay”
At the microphone of the podcast, Dru Hammer returns to this famous day when she made him this proposal. “I called Armie and said, 'What would you like for your birthday this year?' He told me he didn't know. “Maybe money. Never mind”. And I said: 'I think I'm going to offer you a vasectomy,'” she reports.
And the gift hits the mark, since Armie Hammer then explains that he went to a doctor's office to plan said vasectomy. “My doctor said, 'Are you sure you want to do this?' I replied: “I have two beautiful children (a daughter and a son whom he shares with his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers). I don't want more children. It’s good for me,” he remembers.
The request validated by the health professional and his patient, then follows a grotesque scene at the time of payment. When the receptionist asks Armie Hammer to pay for the procedure, the latter replies: “My mother will call you and she will pay.”
“She was looking down, then she looked up and said, 'What?' And I said, 'Yes, my mother gave me this birthday present,'” he continued. “Without her saying it, her head [de la réceptionniste] seemed to say “I’ve never heard that, what are you talking about?”, he adds. So I confirmed to him that yes, my mother did give me a vasectomy for my birthday.”
Embarrassing explanations
But where does this gift idea come from? Dru Hammer's explanation is perplexing to say the least. “I'd like to say, 'Armie, I really pray that you don't have sex outside of marriage,' but that doesn't work,” she says. Before adding to complete this implication about his son being unfaithful to unprotected sexual practices: “It's a miracle that we don't have a bunch of little “Hammers” running around. I know there are young girls who would love to have Armie Hammer's baby.”
“Maybe when I had money, they wanted it,” Armie Hammer ironically corrects. With this joke (in very bad taste), the person refers to his public fall. The actor of Call Me By Your Name was accused of sexual assault and sending inappropriate text messages, including detailing cannibalistic fantasies (“I'd like to cut off a piece of your skin and ask you to cook it for me… Tell you to open your veins and to use blood as a lubricant,” he wrote in one of them). The case ultimately did not result in an indictment, due to lack of sufficient evidence, but the American actor, who had become persona non grata in Hollywood, had disappeared from the radar. Here he is back, in his podcast, designed as a diary of his reconstruction. “Some of you will love it; others hate it,” he says. We couldn't have found a better summary.
