The strengthening of specialized units is the main concern of the Haitian government and police authorities. 455 police officers will join the various units in the coming days, including SWATT, BLVV, BLTS, CIMO, BRI, BOID, UTAG.
The police chief intends in particular to strengthen the BOID unit, once feared but recently weakened. Corroborating sources report around sixty agents expected to join the BOID.
Members of these units are currently involved in an operation against the Jimmy Cherisier gang in Delmas 2. The police chief, Mr. Franz Elbe, announces the continuation of this operation aimed at dismantling this gang, which had killed 3 police officers last year. Utag in an ambush.
