The French Embassy in Portugal commemorated, Monday November 11, 2024, the 106th anniversary of the Armistice of November 11, 1918, marking the end of the fighting in the First World War, during a ceremony organized in the gardens of the Palace of Santos, where the plaques bearing the names of soldiers who died for France are located.
The ceremony, chaired by Madame Hélène Farnaud-Defromont, Ambassador of France to Portugal, included the Embassy’s Defense Attaché, Commander Cyril Caron, elected representatives of the French in Portugal, and representatives of several associations. veterans and a group of students from the Charles Lepierre high school in Lisbon.
The Ambassador read the message from Mr. Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans, then the Defense Attaché cited the names of those who died for France.
The Ambassador and several participants then proceeded with the traditional laying of wreaths.
