« The firefighters told me that, without my intervention, Shana and her baby would certainly no longer be here…”testifies Christopher Bouchard, almost a week after the birth of his grandson, Fousseny.
Last Friday, as he was getting ready to go to work, he heard his daughter “ scream in pain ». « We thought it was an attack of appendicitis », explains the dad to The New Republic. But the 15-year-old is giving birth.
“I took care of the child, I took him out”
While the work has begun, Christopher Bouchard has no choice, he decides to intervene. “ I had never done that. I picked up the child and took him out. » Meanwhile, his partner calls the fire brigade and emergency services. Little Fousseny was born at 3:30 a.m., but his condition worried the former volunteer firefighter.
« He had no movement, no deep breathing or cry.” He begins a cardiac massage and tries to warm the newborn’s body. “ And he moved. It was the denouement. I kept him against my body until the firefighters arrived”remembers the young grandfather.
