Bruno Monteuuis is one of the 150,000 French people living in the United States during the 2024 American election campaign. He left Sarthe 13 years ago and today lives on a ranch in Arizona.

By watching westerns, Bruno Monteuuis ended up becoming a real cowboy. For a long time, he trained horses in Sarthe in France. 13 years ago, he decided to settle in Arizona and marry an American woman. The couple lives near Tombstone, a legendary town of the conquest of the West. By marrying a cowgirl, Bruno married an armed woman ready to protect himself in case of danger: “It’s true that when you’re French, it seems like a bit of a harsh idea” explains Bruno.

Even though Bruno's mentality has changed, integrating into Arizona remains a challenge for him: “They call us aliens, it’s not easy to settle here in a very rural environment.” In the state of Arizona, Republicans and Democrats are neck and neck. And Donald Trump's promise to deport millions of foreigners worries Bruno a lot.
