Seine-et-Marne is still placed on red alert for the risk of flooding this Thursday, October 10, 2024, Météo France announced in its latest forecast bulletin. Furthermore, 6 departments are placed on orange alert for “floods”. These are Vendée, Deux-Sèvres, Sarthe, Orne, Eure-et-Loir and Meurthe-et-Moselle.
Reactions to Kirk’s Rains
“Storm Kirk hit France during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, arriving via Pays de la Loire. Hydrological reactions are underway on a large number of watercourses placed on vigilance »recalls Vigicrues, the organization responsible for monitoring French waterways.
In Seine-et-Marne, it is the level of the Grand Morin which is worrying, with Vigicrues indicating that the levels observed during the record flood of 2016 could be reached.
“Significant floods are also expected on the Sèvre Nantaise upstream (Vendée, Deux-Sèvres), the Huisne (Orne, Sarthe, Eure-et-Loir), and the Chiers upstream (Meurthe-et-Moselle)”adds Vigicrues.
