Launched in 2023, the “Identify me” campaign, developed by Interpol, will be renewed for the year 2024. The objective is twofold: to put a name to the 46 victims who are still unknown and to provide answers to their families.

Bodies that have never been identified. They have a sketch, a 3D reconstruction but no name. Launched in 2023 with the aim of finally finding their origin, “Identify me” is a campaign developed by Interpol which consists of making a major appeal for global witnesses to put a name to these 46 still unknown bodies. The agency has renewed the operation for 2024. The objective is twofold: identify the victims and provide answers to their bereaved families, reports RTL.

Among these 46 cases, seven of them were discovered in between 1982 and 2021. Some of these victims have a nickname, “The Pregnant Woman with the Garnet Necklace” or else “the girl with the ten cent coin”a teenager whose body was found near in 1982.

A flower-shaped tattoo

For Franck Dannerolle, head of the Central Office for the Repression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP): “It is very important that people refer to the site to possibly identify elements that are known to them”he declared on RTL. “They must not hesitate to also look at foreign files: a disappearance in France can find the answer in a neighboring country”he concludes.

Conclusive for the year 2023, the previous “Identify me” campaign made it possible to identify the body of a British woman murdered in 1992 near Antwerp in Belgium. The latter was called Rita Roberts. She was recognized by her family thanks to a flower-shaped tattoo she had on her arm.
