The story might make you smile, but in reality it is very sad. On Thursday, the Bonneville Criminal Court (F) tried an 80-year-old man. This Haut-Savoyard was accused of having hit and insulted his wife (also 80 years old). According to “Le Dauphiné Libéré”, the events took place on April 27, in Glière-Val-de-Borne (F). While preparing the meal, the wife reported a gas outage to her husband. Enough to prevent the potatoes from cooking properly. In rage, the octogenarian chased his wife with a fork, hit her hands to hurt her due to her osteoarthritis, made her fall to the ground before grabbing her by the hair and throwing her beat up. Their son separated them.
The octogenarian was placed under judicial supervision. And a removal order was issued. Before the Court, he did not admit the facts, however he said he regretted his action and asked his wife to let him return to the marital home. The latter refused, explaining that, since the retirement, the couple could no longer stand each other and that her husband insulted and hit her. The defendant’s lawyer indicated in her pleading that her client was suffering from the onset of senility. He received a suspended prison sentence. The removal order was maintained for three years.
