American and British forces bombarded a dozen positions of pro-Iranian Houthi rebels in Yemen on Friday, members of the American administration confirmed cited by the Associated Press agency.

Al-Massirah, the movement’s television channel, had previously reported seven impacts on the airport in Hodeida, in the west, and four in Sanaa, the capital. Dhamar, south of the capital, and Mukayras, to the southeast, were also affected, according to Al-Massirah. The Houthis’ communications service also reported three air raids in the province of Al-Bayda, southeast of Sanaa.

The rebels, who hold most of Yemen, had threatened a few days earlier to increase their “military operations” against Israel and last week claimed responsibility for firing half a dozen missiles and launching two drones in the direction of three American ships which were cruising in the Bab Al-Mandab Strait. All were intercepted, according to several American officials who requested anonymity.
