French people “in a situation of particular vulnerability” left Lebanon aboard commercial planes
At the request of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, during a trip to Lebanon on Monday, “Middle East Airlines today implemented (…)at his request, two additional flights which allowed some of our compatriots who wished to do so – in particular those who find themselves in a particularly vulnerable situation – to return to France”declared the spokesperson for the Quai d’Orsay, Christophe Lemoine, in a briefing to the press.
The French authorities had reserved a total of two hundred seats on these flights on behalf of vulnerable people (sick, elderly or isolated people).
The company also continues to operate two daily flights from Beirut to Paris, “through which our compatriots who wish can leave Lebanon”added the spokesperson.
“We remind you that all travel to Lebanon is strictly discouraged”specifies French diplomacy, which reiterates “the need to end military escalation in the region and calls on all parties to refrain from any destabilizing action”.
