The controlled division of Chechnya by its leader, the very authoritarian Ramzan Kadyrov, and his cronies, knows no respite. The Chechen leader on Sunday appointed his 16-year-old son Adam, one of his fourteen children, to the post of administrator of the “Special Forces University” in the city of Gudermes, a training camp where soldiers, Russians in particular, are preparing for the war in Ukraine. Last year, Adam, Ramzan Kadyrov’s third son, was appointed head of his father’s personal guard. Promotions that are no longer surprising.

Around fifty family members and relatives of the Grozny strongman, in power since 2007, have been placed in senior positions in government agencies, businesses and public organizations.
