Marrakech, Bangkok and Tokyo in the podium of online searches

According to flight search data from the comparator KAYAK.fr, Asian destinations are, as last year, very sought after by its French users for autumn trips and the All Saints’ Day holidays. In the top 10 we find three Asia-Pacific destinations, with Bangkok and Tokyo in second and third position respectively, and Bali in sixth position.

However, Marrakech is the most sought-after destination for French travelers during the fall of 2024, eager to enjoy a longer summer and the Moroccan sun. The ranking also highlights several European capitals, with Rome, Lisbon and London in 7th, 8th and 9th places respectively. French travelers are taking advantage of the proximity of these destinations for their fall vacations. Finally, Island in 5th position and Montreal in 10th position complete KAYAK’s list of the most popular destinations for French travelers this fall.

It is also interesting to note that most destinations see lower flight prices in autumn 2024 than in autumn 2023, with Tokyo seeing ticket prices lower by 19%, and Bali by 16%. Only the European destinations of Rome, Lisbon and London have seen their flight prices increase compared to 2023 (+10, +18 and +4% respectively), but with average flight prices remaining moderate.

By country, searches focus mainly on European destinations

All destinations combined, Spain is the most sought-after country by French travelers this fall, followed by Italy and in third position on the podium, with some travelers wishing to enjoy the French landscape.

As with the breakdown by destination, it is tickets to European countries that are experiencing increases in economy class round-trip fares compared to 2023, while other countries are experiencing decreases in the average ticket price, reaching -19% for Japan in particular.

Sunny, affordable destinations for fall

Traveling in the fall is a great way to extend summer, and most importantly, it’s a great way to save money! According to KAYAK data, prices for round-trip economy international flights (excluding France) are down 9% compared to last year. Conversely, prices for domestic flights are up 9% compared to last year.

The comparator also shares the best dates to travel. For international flights, week 38 (from September 16 to 22) is the most economically advantageous, with discounts of up to -38% on average on the price of the plane ticket, compared to week 42 (from October 14 to 20), which is the week with the highest rates, that is, the week before the All Saints’ Day holidays (which begin on the evening of October 19).

For domestic flights, week 47 (November 18-24) appears to be the most profitable, with discounts of up to 45% on average compared to week 37 (September 9-15), where prices are currently the highest.
