After nine months of investigation, it is a rebound which no one expected anymore. Since the disappearance of little Emile, 2 and a half years old in Haut-Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), investigators have been searching in vain for a clue to find out more about the events that occurred on July 8. It was ultimately a hiker who moved the investigation forward.
Several months passed before a clue was discovered. In fact, it was only on March 30 that the skull of little Emile was found by a woman who went for a walk not far from the hamlet of Haut-Vernet. It was on a track “below” the village that she discovered part of the child’s skeleton. A discovery that made switch the survey and allowed us to see things more clearly.

Since the beginning of the investigation, the disappearance of little Emile has been widely publicized. Chain BFM DICI, based in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, found herself in the field several times, questioning residents and following the police’s searches. The channel’s journalists were also the first to get the testimony of the hiker. Behind the scenes of an exclusive revealed by the channel’s editor-in-chief to our colleagues at TV Star.
Valentin Doyen, editor-in-chief and presenter of BFM DICI’s news, explained how his team managed to trace the hiker’s trail. “First there was the press release from prosecutor Chaumont, announcing that bones had been found. BFMTV then refined it by discovering that it was the skull”, evokes our colleague. “On our side, we were able to identify and locate the hiker before giving all this information to Maxime (Brandstaetter, journalist for BFMTV, editor’s note), who was able to contact her. Team work !”.

Disappearance of Emile, 2 and a half years old: these secrets from the little boy’s family
This is not the first time that the BFMTV teams are the first to disclose information concerning the disappearance of little Emile. Questioned by Télé Star, Maxime Brandstaetter confided that he was one of the first journalists to speak to the little boy’s relatives after the tragedy. “I was the firston Sunday July 9, to speak to Emile’s grandfather and parents”, he explains.
“With their agreement, we released this photo of the child, with a flower behind his ear”, confides the journalist specializing in news items. A closeness with little Emile’s parents which quickly ends. Indeed, the family wishes to remain discreet: “They made us understand that it would be useless to try to contact them, that they would no longer respond. And I respect that”. Subsequently, Marie and Colomban S. will come out of silence for the Catholic media, Christian magazine.

Those close to the little boy remain discreet. Only on rare occasions do they break the silence. After the discovery of little Emile’s body, the boy’s mother spoke on the Facebook page dedicated to prayers for her son. In her message, the young mother thanks the people who participated in the Leetchi prize poolcreated to offer a beautiful funeral to the child.
“We try to read all your messages, whether comments, PMs, letters”, she adds, before confiding that she was “very touched by compassion” of Internet users facing the drama they are experiencing. For the moment, the favored thesis at “90%” by the police would be that of the accident. A thesis refuted by many villagers. The truth about the disappearance and death of little Emile remains mysterious.
