The Chaumont VB 52 Haute-Marne continued its good series, Saturday January 25, on the side of Saint-Nazaire, winning in three sets with authority. A new demonstration of its dazzling current form: important four days from the Champions League.
While the Chaumont VB 52 Haute-Marne arrived in Loire-Atlantique, Saturday January 25, without its German central, Lukas Maase (pain under the shoulder), preserved, on the side of Saint-Nazaire, it is a strongly modified face that premises presented to the kick-off of this eighteenth day of the championship. With Titouan Hallé, usual receipter/attacker, at the “pointed” post and the second passer, Liam vary at the helm, Fedor Ivanov returning just from a flu, Nazairiens like Chaumontais began the game with, already, unconsciously or not , part of their mind turned to the Champions League appointment next Wednesday.
A situation that Haut-Marnais apprehends better at the start of the meeting with, quickly, a quality of service which undermines the premises (3-8). Helped by a Sebastian Closter already very solid on its rear base, visitors push their hosts to the fault of the attack, and also use them, mentally as physically, on “rallies” often winning (7-17). Even if Fedor Ivanov takes up the orchestration of the Nazairian game, the premises are constantly under pressure in reception and cannot develop the slightest exchange with success: 11-24 in 18 ′.
As should be expected, the scenario is not the same at the start of the second set. Saint-Nazaire rectifies the shooting, in particular in reception, and can use the large size of the Central Luuc van der Ent to find more efficiency (8-8)…
The accelerator
But without pushing the CVB 52 in its entrenchments. Drawing on a “block/defense” still so compact, the cevébis are the first to detach themselves to the scoring (8-12), but see their room for maneuver is reduced over the minutes. The fault notably with a lesser offensive realism (19-18), which Pierre Toledo is responsible for making forget by his quality of service at the best of moments (20-20, then 20-24). Sufficient for CVB 52 to conclude the case: 21-25 in 26 ′. Since the entry into the game of Jacob Pasteur, the Chaumontais have undeniably given the offensive boost necessary to press the accelerator again. The American still proves it at the start of the third act, allowing his family to quickly regain control of the game (5-10). And even if the Nazairian “block” slows the opposing ardor (9-11) a little, the cevébis early took their march forward that the locals cannot stop (13-18). Pierre Toledo is again at the origin of this recovery with a fanfare, in the net as in the service and in defense: a huge work which asserts, each time, a new blow to the Nazairiens (14-22). The outcome of the meeting is hardly any doubt, even if the CVB 52 makes, well involuntarily, some can last the pleasure: 20-25 in 27 ′.
An authoritarian and convincing victory which remains a good omen before the decisive meeting in the Champions League, Wednesday January 29, against Sofia, in Palestra, to continue the adventure in the European Cup.
