VOLLEYBALL: hosted the Women’s U18 French Cup Challenge

Victory against Buxy for the men.

Men's regional match 1 against Buxy:
Victoire 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 28-26)

Word from the coach:
We had a good match overall, much better than against Montceau. We were good at service and not too bad at reception. A little irregular in attack even though we scored a lot of points. We have to be careful to be in support, as soon as we get caught on the counter there is no one to get the ball back. We are going to start working on the defensive systems because they are starting to fail us and we will have to be on top of that for the tough matches which will arrive in February/March.

Men's regional match 2 against Montceau:
Defeat 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-17)

Word from the coach:
Quite a frustrating match because we really thought we could take a set. The team was effective on the counter and in attack which prevented the opponents from always being in a good position to attack but our lack of regularity in serving and especially in receiving services once again failed us. We took a lot of points on simple but placed serves and unfortunately these series prevented us from getting back into the score. Apart from these faults, the team still moved much better than last week, we saw a lot of balls, whether on restarts or on attacks, compared to the previous week. The big point to work on will be the placement on service receptions in the next training sessions and the passer/attacker communication.

U15 boys tournament:

Word from the coach:
This Saturday, our young people traveled to . They have won one victory in 6 matches and are therefore 5th out of 6. They were good in defense and reception but we will still have to work on the attack and the service to score points.

Women's regional match against Sennecey:
Defeat 3-0 (25-8, 25-9, 25-19)

Word from the coach:
With a reduced team, the Creusetines traveled to Sennecey, a top team. We lacked services and reception and a few unforced errors in the first two sets, a frustrating third set that we could have won where we found a strong team in all areas and completely relaxed. Match lost 3 set 0.

Women's pre-national match against Talant:
Defeat 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-11)

Word from the coach:
The girls played quite well against a team 2nd in the championship. We could have done better in reception, we got a little watery at certain times, it's a shame because otherwise there was room to take a set or two. We defended well on their attacks and their feints, we managed to organize ourselves to offer something even on balls that were difficult to negotiate, it's really satisfying. We have to avoid giving up when we lose one or two points on their serves and we have to help each other a little more when a girl is struggling, but they fought well.

French Cup Challenge U18 girls:

Word from the coach:
First match won 2-0 against Val de Saône The girls got straight into the match with a good series of serves. It is also this sector in which we performed very well that allowed us to win. The girls performed well in reception and defense to put our passer in the best conditions and allow us to be effective in attack. They played their game well and organized themselves well after 2-3 missed balls on easy returns. This is our first victory 2 sets to 0 since the start of this competition, usually we always go to the tie break. Second match lost 2-0 against ASUL We tied with the Lyon girls up to 20 all, we even led most of the time before breaking down at the end of the set. Then in the second set, we took a series of serves in the middle, which put us in trouble afterwards even if the young people didn't give up and gave everything until the end. Lyon gained confidence and played much better than in the first set too. We could have done better but overall it was a very good match nonetheless. We move on to the next round despite everything since we won a match, and it's really impressive to see the progress of the girls from one month to the next, who don't play together in the championship and therefore don't train. together (composed of 5 regional players and 3 pre-national players). They have a great state of mind and good cohesion, we hope to have another round or two in this competition.
