Frantz Granvorka will not attend the MSL meeting between Tours and Saint-Nazaire this Friday, November 29. He who had already not been to the TVB trip to Nice last week. A more than serious indication of the end of the announced story…
Tours Volley-Ball has, in fact, decided to part ways with its manager. A decision made official this Thursday by the Touraine club, which evokes a departure “by mutual agreement”.

“A positioning problem”
“Frantz had difficulty understanding his role as manager, explains François Bruneau, the president of the TVB. There was a positioning problem. » With a very strong involvement in sports, physical preparation, medical – undoubtedly the fruit of his composite background (player, physical trainer, osteopath) – and insufficient in administrative and commercial matters.
With as a result a shaken internal organization and upheavals which ended up creating deep points of tension, and even of no return, with different entities of the club. His departure is therefore the epilogue of a situation that has become inextricable over the weeks.
“A failure” for both parties
“It remains a failure, confides Frantz Granvorka, who chooses his words. The perspective was to have three years to work between the combination of the athlete, the monitoring of the players and the administrative part. Unfortunately, the emergencies at the start of the season – between suspension, lawyer, operation, change of player, lack of results – caused internal tensions to rise. »
Frantz Granvorka having arrived in this position, which was new for him, this summer after an appointment made official in January 2024, it is an understatement to say that the collaboration will have ended short, even though François Bruneau had indicated that he wanted “give Frantz one or two years” to prove himself. “It’s a failure, agrees the president. A failure of the club to integrate a new person with a new method. The TVB institution already operates with different people who must be integrated into management. »
“Focus on current goals”
And now ? Tours Volley-Ball is not going to look for a manager urgently. “We need to focus on the objectives of the moment”underlines François Bruneau. The missions that Frantz Granvorka was to carry out will therefore be distributed among those in place, with strong involvement from the president, among others.
And for those who imagine a return to Pascal Foussard's business, that is not on the agenda. The former general manager remains a consultant to the club, and in particular to the president who will have to open, in the coming weeks, a key file: the construction of the next team, which never waits for spring to take shape.
“But the idea today is to re-mobilize the club in the dynamics of its current winning streak”concludes François Bruneau. The arrival of the reigning French champion, Saint-Nazaire, this Friday, November 29 in Grenon, offers a great opportunity.
