“A total disappointment”… This key plot of season 6 is a dismal failure

I know, Virgin River is not the series of the century and there are no crazy things happening there. However, this fiction remains my little pleasure and, each season, I look forward to discovering what will happen to Mel, Jack, Doc, Hope and company. Virgin River is the perfect cuddly toy, which doesn't leave my side during the cold winter evenings. And while the previous salvos had sometimes focused on investigations, I am delighted that the writers have skipped this aspect in season 6 of the series, now available on Netflix. I continued through the episodes and they gave me the warmth and comfort I needed. I was even surprised to discover that this season was a little naughtier than the previous ones, with many intimate scenes. It's indeed difficult to forget Jack's striptease, a moment that Martin Henderson wants to erase from his memory, unlike us, or the torrid scene of Brie and Brady on the pool table.

Please Netflix, order this spin-off of Virgin River !

I also enjoyed finally seeing Mel and Jack live their love fully. Their relationship blossoms and the long-awaited moment of their wedding, which was difficult to film for all the actors, finally happened! The other surprise is the scenes of Mel's parents in 1970s Virgin River during flashbacks. If the announcement of a potential spin-off about them didn't excite me at all, I must admit, this season 6 made me change my mind. So much so that I now hope that Netflix will officially order this spin-off series! However, while there are many things that I liked in these new episodes, one of the big plots of this salvo greatly disappointed me.

Virgin River : this plot of season 6 would have deserved a better resolution

This sixth season of Virgin River was thus an opportunity to deepen Mel's new relationship with Everett, her biological father. As the two gradually get to know each other, Everett quickly indicates that Doc (Tim Matheson) doesn't like him because of something that happened in their past. Throughout the season, we repeatedly see the doctor's enmity for his nurse's father manifest. But to keep us in suspense, the cause of this animosity remains a secret for most of the season. A successful ploy because my curiosity took over and I was dying to know what happened between them. I even started to come up with various theories. One of them was that Everett had an adulterous relationship with Doc's girlfriend. Ultimately, I was far from reality because we learned at the end of season 6 that Everett had a car accident. While Doc was treating him, one of his patients, a child, died. Doc always held a grudge against Everett, because he always believed Everett was drunk and behind the wheel. Everett finally confesses to her that he had attempted suicide that day, broken by the death of Mel's mother, his great love, and by the fact that he did not know his daughter.

The end of the story between Doc and Everett is a big disappointment

I want to say… All that for that! The resolution of this plot is a total disappointment and falls like a breeze. They could have had an honest discussion much earlier and that would have spared us this melodrama which clearly does not live up to the suspense that has punctuated this season 6. I understand that Doc might have felt guilty for not having been able to try to save this young boy, but he saved Everett's life. He makes him guilty even though he had nothing to do with it. The anger that the doctor felt towards Mel's father is not really understandable. And even if that had been the case, it didn't deserve this plot to take so much momentum that everything could be resolved with a little conversation. I expected more from this plot and I was left wanting more! Despite that, I will respond to season 7 of Virgin River.
