Against PSG, Hidalgo insists that the stadium is not for sale

This is a statement that will not please PSG at all. The mayor of Anne Hidalgo reaffirmed on Wednesday that the Parc des Princes was not for sale, during her wishes to the elected officials of the capital and the metropolis.

“We will not sell the Parc des Princes because it is the heritage of Parisians,” insisted Anne Hidalgo. PSG had proposed to the town hall to buy the property, in order to expand it.

PSG plans to build a new stadium

The president of the Parisian club, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, regrets a limited capacity of 48,000 seats in the stadium, while “everyone in Europe has stadiums with 80,000, 90,000 seats”. The club wanted to acquire the property to expand the reception to 60,000 seats.

After multiple refusals from the town hall, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi said he had decided in November to “build as quickly as possible” a new enclosure. Among the potential structures, there is the site of the Saint-Cloud racecourse and Montigny-le-Bretonneux (), according to a source close to the matter, who added that the town of Aulnay sous- was still interested to accommodate the future stadium. The club should decide by the end of the first half of 2025, this source said.

Last February, “NAK” had already announced that the departure of the Parc des Princes, which the town hall refused to sell, was now inevitable for its club.
