And Virgin River remains, in season 6, the comfortable rosewater series that we love to watch under a blanket, we must admit that one of the main actresses struggles to convince us.
Each series has its audience and its function. On Netflix, we can alternate suspense evenings with season 2 Squid Game and those of romance with season 6 of Virgin River. And it's obvious that the expectations for these two programs are very different, whether it's realism or acting. Virgin Rivera romantic fiction that has warmed our hearts for six seasons, is not intended to be realistic but light and charming, with a hint of twists and turns, for subscribers with tender hearts. A mission fulfilled again in the last season, notably thanks to the marriage of Mel and Jack. But if the requirements regarding Virgin River are relative, there is still an element which begins to spoil our pleasure…
Virgin River : this plot confirms that this character has no credibility
If the character of Hope, played by Annette O'Toole, aims to regularly hit us on the system with her authoritarianism and her nasty habit of getting involved in everything, the game of the actress Annette O'Toole, who intentionally overplays the chief warrant officers, ended up letting us tie up. It's the opposite problem with the character of Brie (Zibby Allen): Jack's sister was built to gradually become a major character but he ends up being the most annoying. Already by its mountains of uncertainties: Brady or Mike? Mike or Brady? After three seasons of hesitation, it is time to choose! What was an interesting love triangle at the start becomes downright boring, with Brie's character going completely in circles in her storylines. We are not far from hoping that she does not choose anyone to shorten our suffering. But if only, that was the only problem… It's been a while since we had trouble imagining Brie as a lawyer: when and where does she work? It's crazy all this free time. But in season 6, we (re)discover her in court where she defends Preacher during his trial. And then the little remaining myth collapses…
Virgin River : Netflix, please help Zibby Allen
During the trial, she proves to be even worse a lawyer than a companion! She loses her words in front of the judge, lets a recording pass which was nevertheless in the file (the explanation? It was in the digital version and not paper. In 2024, don't lawyers know how to use a computer?!), allows himself to be surprised all the time by the testimonies or the words of the prosecutor… A mock trial which, even for Virgin River from which we do not expect great judicial realism, was painful to follow and watch. Everything is unfortunately accentuated by the extremely limited acting of the actress, Zibby Allen. The young woman has alternated two expressions for four seasons: open mouth, amazed eyes and furrowed eyebrows, or a goofy smile. So please for season 7, Netflix, find him a coach or give him something to play with but fingers crossed for finally some credibility.
