M6 has just announced the deployment of its M6+ streaming platform on DTT using Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV) technology.
M6+ via TNT and an internet connection
Concretely, you will be able to access the M6+ platform directly from your television provided that it is compatible with HbbTV 2.0. Although the standard was ratified in 2015 for implementation in 2016, M6 indicates that its service will only be available on post-2021 televisions.
M6+ will be accessible via the M6, W9 and 6ter channels and you will be able to access all the content in the catalog, i.e. nearly 30,000 hours of programs. Gulli is part of the M6 group but the channel does not seem concerned by the arrival of M6+ in HbbTV.
As a reminder, an internet connection on your television is necessary to benefit from HbbTV services. This allows you to enjoy additional content without constraints, even if your device is not a smart TV.
The group of the rising channel was not very verbose in its announcement but it should be possible to synchronize the playlists between the applications and that on HbbTV. On the other hand, although the solution is compatible with 4K, this image format will not be available since M6+ does not broadcast in this resolution, even with an M6+ Max account.
