After the triumph of DanDaDan this winter, fans of Japanese animation are now awaiting the release of the first season of Sakamoto Days. A week before its launch, the opening was revealed and aroused the anger of many fans.
Sakamoto Days: a failed opening?
The year 2025 has just begun and the winter season of Japanese animation cannot wait. Already a host of anime are arriving on our screens. While MAPPA will unveil the first episode of its new series today, Netflix continues to tease the arrival of Sakamoto Daysthe adaptation of the eponymous manga by Yuto Suzuki by the studio TMS Entertainment. The manga, which is a huge success with readers of the Weekly Shōnen Jumpis among the great hopes of publisher Shūeisha.
We follow the adventures of Taro Sakamoto, a legendary assassin who put his weapons away after his marriage and the birth of his daughter. But when a young telepathic assassin arrives, Sakamoto is forced to return to service. But his plumpness is deceptive: the legendary hitman is as formidable and charismatic as ever when it's time to take action. Through its humor and its exceptional action scenes, which take perfect advantage of each element of the setting, the manga Sakamoto Days could give rise to a formidably effective anime if it is well adapted.
However, it seems that the first teasers of Sakamoto Days revealed by TMS Entertainment left fans doubtful. And the revelation on Saturday, January 4 of the opening of the first lesson of season 1 only accentuated this feeling. On the song Hashire Sakamoto Days from Vandy, The credits first show us the main characters walking in the streets, before giving way to three short action scenes.
More the opening made certain fans fear the worst who did not recognize the atmosphere of Sakamoto Days. Too soft for some, not flamboyant enough for others, Hashire Sakamoto is therefore not entirely a success for TMS Entertainment.

It would be wrong to underestimate the importance of openings. Indeed, a successful opening is a formidably effective advertisement for an anime and production studios rely heavily on it. Some have even become real phenomena, like Guren no Yumiya from Linked Horizon (season 1 of Attack on Titan), KICK BACK de Kenshi Yonezu (saison 1 de Chainsaw Man), SPECIALZ of King Gnu (season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen) or even Otonoke from Creepy Nuts (season 1 of DanDaDan).
