Through her research, Kat ends up finding Josh, who now calls himself Reggie Cross. He is a widower and lives with his daughter Sadie and her grandfather, in an isolated house. Josh knew that Kat’s father, Clint, was corrupt. “The truth would have killed you, you don’t understand”he told him. If he maintains that he has always loved her, Kat leaves before hearing his explanations. Later, Stagger, his boss, admits to having paid Monte LeBurne to confess to Clint’s murder, because he did not want the truth to come out about him. He especially didn’t want Kat to learn who her father really was because he had promised Clint to take care of her if anything happened to her.

As she returns home, Kat discovers Dana’s son Brandon being kidnapped. At the farm, Titus decides to burn everything and get rid of the hostages. Dana manages to free everyone and they attack their jailer. Arriving at the farm with her partner, Kat refuses to wait for reinforcements. When Kat returns home, Josh is waiting for her and they end up reconnecting and spending several days (weeks?), happy together.

But one morning, a phone call shakes everything up again. Charlie calls Kat to tell her that he finally received the results of the analysis of the fingerprint found on the gun that killed his father, which had never been identified. This imprint was involved in a bar fight in Scotland. Kat then understands that it is Josh’s. In shock, she hears him tell her the events that led him to kill his fiancée’s father. The night he died, Aqua, Kat and Josh’s friend, saw Clint with Parker. Clint saw her and was afraid she would tell Kat everything. So he asked Stagger for Aqua’s address. Aqua wanted to encourage Clint to tell his daughter the truth himself and he was very violent, brutalizing her. Josh arrived and accidentally killed him, while trying to defend Aqua.
