ASSE was sold at the end of the 2023-2024 season which ended with a return to League 1. Finally in its place, the Forez club set off on a new cycle. Change of direction, project and means.
After the relegation of ASSE, the club had counted on two seasons to return to the elite. A complete squad to be redesigned with a wave of departures in the summer of 2022. Two years later, there have been numerous movements. Not without difficulty, ASSE returned to League 1 after a barrage of unbearable suspense. Kilmer Sport Ventures has taken over the reins of the club. With its new project and after six months of implementation, who are the big winners and losers of the new Project?
Young people gaining ground
Several young players have been accumulating playing time since the arrival of Kilmer Sports Ventures. Mathis Amougou is the young player from the center who has gained the most experience during these first six months. He is not the only one, Louis Mouton, Ayman Aiki also took advantage of these first six months to gain playing time.
Kevin Pedro appears as the nice surprise. Only under a professional trainee contract, he experienced his first minutes in Ligue 1 against Monaco. He trains regularly with the professional group and was able to seize his chance even though he was not expected so early at this level.
Finally Benjamin Bouchouari was able to thwart the predictions. Big loser last season, he was able to regain his place. He even appears to be the only player capable of making the link between the midfield and the attack of this team.
Davitashvili (ASSE) surnage
In a team in difficulty and often forced to leave the ball to the opponent, the former Girondist is among the big winners at the start of the season. Starting in 15 games, he scored 5 goals and delivered 2 assists. Although not everything is perfect, it has often been the tree that hid the forest.
ASSE executives are big losers
Several of them have been essential players in the rise during the 2023-2024 season. They are today suffering from poor playing time due to the club's desire to change course.
Florian Tardieu and Lamine Fomba are the two most available players who are almost no longer used. Anthony Briançon and Thomas Monconduit, injured, also seem increasingly on the sidelines of this project.
Too regular injuries
Several of them benefited from little playing time due to injury during these first six months. Aimen Moueffek, extended this summer, has not yet been able to repay the confidence offered by the new Saint-Etienne management. Augustine Boakye also had to deal with numerous problems which prevented him from playing a series of matches.
Also, Pierre Cornud, who played a series of matches in the Israeli championship, only played 377 minutes. Yvann Maçon is also struggling. The Guadeloupean has only played 289 minutes. The equivalent of a little more than three entire matches.
Unfortunately, Ibrahima Wadji did worse with 101 minutes. The Senegalese striker continues his ordeal from last season.
