On November 30, Olivier Corneau, a painter whom many Quebecers discovered thanks to Survivor Quebec, made a video in which he described the fraud of which he had been a victim.
He received a call from his bank telling him that transactions were currently taking place on his account, from an individual in Toronto.
« He knew my address, he knew my card number, he knew everything », he indicated.
He adds: “ It puts me in a state of panic that I must act quickly, not cut the line. And there, he will send me text messages that I must approve so that the money that came out will be repatriated to my account. […] So I confirm that I want the money to be, quote, repatriated to my account. And there, in my bank account, this money comes out. When the money came out after that, they hung up. And then I started crying, shaking. »
He then reminded people to be careful. “ If you have any doubt that it’s not good, then you have to hang up. Because they have all the right words, they have all the little stratagems so that your emotions get on board, then panic sets in, then you trust them completely. It really is like a big hostage situation. »
This video, although very useful, has generated its share of hatred from certain Internet users. “ […] cheating video continues to attract daily insults from straight white men on four-wheelers in Budweiser sweaters », he said in a story, specifying at the same time that he managed to reach more than 25,0000 people, who shared his important words.
« I really hope I’ve been helpful and saved you from some mishaps with the scammers! “, he said in closing.
We can never talk too much about the vicious techniques of fraudsters to trap citizens. Well done Olivier and thank you!
