Cal Jones, your character, is very mysterious…
Chad Michael Murray. Everyone wants to unravel the mystery, to understand who he is, because he's a bit like the local guy about whom we know little at first. But it will be revealed as the episodes progress. From my point of view, Cal is the kind of man you can always count on, who will always be there for you.
Cal is a loner, with his feet on the ground… That's a bit like you, right?
Yes, we have a lot in common. I believe I am someone who is there for others, especially the people he loves. I am a loner, introvert. But Cal deals with his problems in a much different way than I do. You will see…
A word about your playing partner, Morgan Kohan…
Oh, I love Morgan! She's fantastic. It's funny, because the way we play together improves from season to season. And it's great to have seen her evolve as an actress, to see her become more and more comfortable with her character. We became very good friends.
Return to Sullivan's crossinga “binge-watcher” series according to Chad Michael Murray
You are filming in Nova Scotia…
It is a magical and authentic place. I love this region so much. It's North America's best kept secret. You can go on incredible hikes there, and there's no friendlier place than its people. It is a privilege to spend five months of the year there. I feel at home there. This place is a character in its own right in the series, which would not be the same without him.
Return to Sullivan's Crossing met its audience, and was renewed for a third season. Do you think viewers needed this kind of heartwarming program?
Without a doubt. People watch the show because I think they identify with the characters who come here to fix themselves. And you will discover that Cal needs to heal, Maggie too. This is why I advise you to binge watch the series, to immerse yourself in it. From season 2, everything will go faster. As for season 3, it's going to be fire. The series gets better with time.
Chad Michael Murray: his family is his priority!
Is it scary to take on a project that is potentially a multi-year commitment?
Always ! You never know what you're getting yourself into. So we have to assume that we are signing for six years. As far as I'm concerned, I was really looking for a project of this kind to raise our three children with my wife Sarah (Roemer, also an actress, editor's note). We wanted our family to stay together. So a long-term series, and of this quality, with a family and good-natured spirit, was what was needed so that my children would not be bothered at school for what Dad was playing. television. It was the perfect project.
How do you experience your status as an icon for everyone who grew up in the 2000s?
Whether it is the Frères Scott, Gilmore Girls, Dawson or even Freaky Friday, these are works that have shaped and impacted their audience, intellectually and emotionally. It created a sort of bond between young viewers of the early 2000s and me. A bond that has strengthened over the years, and which is particularly close to my heart. It's always a pleasure to meet these fans, because we grew up together.

The Christmas film The Merry Gentlemen was a great success on Netflix. What memories do you have of the filming?
I had a great time. It’s one of the most fun filming experiences I’ve had. Actors, producers, technical team… We all worked hand in hand for a common goal.
Exactly, would you be up for a sequel?
100%! Quite simply because I've never had so much fun on set. If we made a sequel, it would have to be even crazier and more over-the-top. But I wouldn't hesitate for a single second!
What can you tell us about Freakier Friday, the sequel to Freaky Friday which will be released in theaters next year?
Nothing at all! I've been asked to keep it a secret for now. All I can tell you is that it will be really good!
