Canal+ Bénin and A+ Bénin announced, this Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the official launch of the first Beninese saga, the Appearances series. This is a series co-produced by A+ Benin and Marodi TV.
From Monday, December 23, 2024 at 3 p.m., Beninese people will be able to discover the Beninese series Apparence on A+ Benin, from Monday to Friday. Between power play, lies, love, loyalty and resilience, Appearances is a family story where men and women confront and confront each other.
Throughout the 100 26-minute episodes, the Appearances series immerses the audience in a reality so familiar that it is difficult to detach themselves from the intrigues and twists and turns of these dreamed stories where only the passion for power justifies alliances.
“Since its creation, A+ Benin’s mission is to reveal and promote talents and Beninese and African cultures through loyalty-building fiction and entertainment programs,” recalled Cléli Azakpota, General Director of the A+ Benin channel.
According to her, with the Appearances series, A+ Bénin goes even further. “For this first co-production with Marodi TV, we wanted to bring together our audience through a daily, serialized and popular series where family, the thirst for power, love and resilience are at the heart of the plot,” explained Cléli Azakpota.
Created by Christiane Chabi Kao and directed by the amazing duo Kismath Baguiri and Pape Abdoulaye, the Apparence series has more than 80 actors, 600 extras and 60 technicians. For Christiane Chabi Kao, the Beninese must watch the Apparence series because it is a story that resembles them, it is the story of a family like we find in Benin, the story of people who love each other and who hate each other at the same time,… “that’s all that happens to us in real life…”, she confided.

“Women fight for business…”
“As soon as Christiane offered me this series, I was immediately interested and I decided to produce it”declared producer Mass Ndour. “Frankly, this is the approach, today we are used to seeing women in West Africa fighting for a man. And there (in the Appearances series), women fight for business. The battle will be very tough around business”he greeted.
He wants to send a message through the Appearances series. “I want to show that in Africa, there are not only women who run behind men, there are also independent women who fight for their business in order to provide for their needs. This will allow the whole world to discover the quality of Beninese women”he said.
