The Republicans are still waiting for guarantees from the Prime Minister to enter the government. Laurent Wauquiez refused a ministry, BFMTV reported on the evening of Saturday December 21. Mathieu Darnaud, president of the LR group in the Senate, and Laurent Wauquiez spoke during the day on Saturday with François Bayrou. Gérard Larcher, President of the Senate, also attended the discussions.
The Prime Minister would have assured the Republicans that he would take their priorities into account: the reduction of public spending, the reaffirmation of authority and the regulation of immigration, the revalorization of work, measures for the territories, the decentralization and a major agricultural orientation law.
Reserves on the budget
There remains a reservation on the budget and taxation. The LR deputies are asking François Bayrou for a letter with details and hope to obtain it this Sunday morning.
For his part, Laurent Wauquiez refused a ministry. “My personal case was discussed. The only possible configuration for me was Bercy with a clear roadmap, in particular no tax increase. There is no such roadmap. He offered me something else, I declined“, he declared in front of the deputies of the LR group.
