The star host of C8 faces a fine of 12,000 euros.
Finally, the famous and controversial host Cyril Hanouna did not come to “clash” at the bar of the Paris correctional tribunal (Île-de-France) this Tuesday, December 17, on the sidelines of the trial which pits him against Louis Boyard, a deputy who filed a complaint for public insults towards a person entrusted with a public service missionafter being the subject of a series of insults and insults from the C8 star on the set of his show, Don’t touch my post.
Absent at the bar, the one who is accused by the rebellious deputy of having demonstrated “from a desire for censorship” incurs a fine of 12,000 euros. The court has reserved its decision and will deliver its judgment on February 20, 2025.
“You’re a piece of shit.”
“Jester goes”, “you idiot”, you’re an idiot”, “you’re shit”, “tocard va”… Louis Boyard was the subject of a flood of insults uttered by Cyril Hanouna on the set of his show Touche pas à mon poste, to which he was invited on November 13, 2022. Five insults for which the famous host was found at the heart of a trial for a day, this Tuesday, December 17.
One of the rebellious MP’s lawyers believes that others “disparaging remarks” as “you came to be smart”sont “repeated two, three, four times to ‘anesthetize you’ […] This is the Hanouna method.”he argued at the bar. Just before being under fire for these insults, Louis Boyard had criticized the “press magnate” Vincent Bolloré, owner of C8 and boss of Cyril Hanouna.
And “umpteenth media stunt” of the MP?
Louis Boyard, argued at the bar to have “felt hate” from the facilitator. The MP believes “than the will” of Cyril Hanouna through these insults, “it is to belittle, to humiliate […] We feel a feeling of omnipotence”while the host’s lawyers, absent in court, argue that “this sequence (where Louis Boyard is insulted, Editor’s note), it’s a dream, a miracle, it happened exactly as he hoped, he was delighted”denouncing in the process a “umpteenth media stunt” of the rebellious deputy.
In front of the sequence projected on the screen of the 17th criminal chamber of the Paris court, the deputy still seemed to be shocked, rolling his eyes to the sky, shaking his head.
3.5 million euros fine imposed on Canal +
“I was not able to explain my reasoning, I am a deputy, an elected official of the nation, to present political ideas and I have in front of me a press manager, a presenter, who tells me that I have not the right to say that”. “I was insulted for my political remarks”, he considers, while this sequence earned the Canal + group channel a very heavy fine of 3.5 million euros imposed by Arcom.
It remains for the court to decide whether the offense “towards a person entrusted with a public service mission“, is proven, echoing the case of Nadine Morano against Guy Bedos, in which the plaintiff was dismissed because her status as an elected official had not been characterized in the insult “slut”.
