TFO has a new CEO

The former general manager of TVA Nouvelles and LCN, Xavier Brassard-Bédard, was appointed head of Ontario’s French-speaking public broadcaster, TFO, on Tuesday.

A manager in the media sector for nearly fifteen years, Mr. Brassard-Bédard succeeds, as president and chief executive officer (CEO), Michelle Séguin, who has led the organization since 2021.

A journalist by training, he studied at Collège La Cité and the University of Ottawa and began his career as an editor-revisor in Ottawa within the Regroupement des organisms du patrimoine franco-ontarien (ROPFO), now known as the Franco-Ontarian Heritage Network (RPFO).

During his career, he also worked at - in Ottawa and Toronto, where he notably held the positions of researcher, producer and desk editor at Téléjournal Ontario.

“I am proud and honored to take the reins of TFO, a media anchored in youth and in the production and broadcast of French-speaking content that is unique on our screens. I am determined to strengthen the role of TFO in the years to come,” declared Mr. Brassard-Bédard in a press release on Tuesday.

“TFO is entering a new era marked by a media industry undergoing great transformation. The new CEO will use his extensive experience in the media to guide TFO to new heights with an evolving audience,” said Jean Lépine, Chairman of the Board of Directors, TFO.

Mr. Brassard-Bédard will officially begin his mandate on January 6, 2025.
