This is a radical change of direction: BFMTV has decided to abandon, from January 6, 2025, the format of debates that it offered in prime time to adopt the more “classic” tone of the 8 p.m. news like TF1 or France 2, reports The World.
Exit, therefore, Éric Brunet (who had only joined the news channel recently bought by Rodolphe Saadé last school year), and place for Maxime Switek, currently host of the 9 a.m. to noon segment and who will embody this new direction.
His “20 hours” will last two, and although he will receive several experts (in domestic politics, economics, international in particular), they will participate only to bring added value to the reports and interviews which will be presented there.
“A dispassionate approach”
No more heated debates in “confrontation” mode, therefore, the channel now wishing to “favor a dispassionate, even benevolent, approach to information”, specifies Le Monde.
Our “BFMTV” file
The objective is to retain viewers for longer in front of BFMTV, which has “only” 215,000 daily aficionados (1% market share), or 29,000 more than LCI but… much less than CNews, including L’Heure des Pros 2, hosted by Pascal Praud, brings together 536,000 regular viewers!
