This weekend, fans ofArcane have discovered the last three episodes of the Netflix series set in the universe of League of Legends. If season 2 marked the end of the adventures of Vi and Jinx, Netflix and Riot Games do not intend to stop there. We know more about the three series currently in development.
Riot Games is already thinking about the post-Arcane
Launched in 2021, the series Arcane quickly rose among the best series on the Netflix platform. Adapting the video game universe of League of Legendsthe show managed to convince well beyond the circle of fans of the Riot Games licensenotably thanks to the effectiveness of its scenario and the mastery of its animation, produced by the French studio Fortiche. With this masterpiece, Netflix has managed to establish itself as one of the undisputed leaders in the global animation market. Highly anticipated by fans, season 2 ofArcane was broadcast during the month of November in three bursts of three episodes. Concluding the adventures of sisters Vi and Jinx, this second season was also acclaimed by fans and critics. The original soundtrack received much praise, particularly for the song My Best Enemy of Stromae and Apple. Naturally, with such success, Riot Games intends to continue exploring the universe of League of Legends and announced a few weeks ago that spin-offs were in the works.
On Sunday November 24, 2024, the co-creator of the series ArcaneChristian Linke, gave an interview to the Necrit94 stream on his Twitch channel. The showrunner gave further details on the three planned series. We thus discover that the next works will abandon the city of Piltover to take place in other regions of Runeterra, namely: Noxus, Ionia and Demacia. These series could be directly linked to Arcanesince Mel Medara goes to Noxus at the end of season 2.
For now, we still don't know the titles, the release windows and even the name of the studio(s) responsible for the animation. (Even if we hope that they will be entrusted to the Fortiche studio, which has shown that it is capable of taking on such a project.) However, it could well be that Riot Games will weave a gigantic shared television universe, able to compete with the enormous machine launched by Warner Bros. with the series Game of Throneswhich already has two spin-offs on HBO with House of the Dragon and the upcoming series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
