The latter is also going through a difficult time in the series. Indeed, since he took Compound V24 in season 3, the hero knows that he is doomed and that he only has a few months to live. We even learned in the new episodes of season 4 that he had taken Compound V in the hope that it could cure him. Unfortunately, this was not the case since he has since suffered from memory loss, a worm that crawls into his skin, but also hallucinations of his late wife Becca (Shantel VanSanten). While many mysteries surround Butcher, fans have a very relevant theory about him, but also about Joe Kessler, since the broadcast of episode 5 of season 4 of The Boys on Prime Video. Explanations!

Neuman (Claudia Doumit). There they discover Sameer Shah (Omid Abtahi), the technician who helped develop the virus and who is also the father of Victoria Neuman’s daughter, Zoe Neuman (Olivia Morandin). However, things take a turn for the worse when bloodthirsty sheep under V attack. Eventually, the group is forced to use the last vial of the virus to slaughter the animals and keep them safe. It works but Sameer is missing and it seems he is dead because only a piece of his leg was found. At the end of the episode, we learn that he is alive and that Butcher is holding him and cutting off his leg. He wants to force him to recreate the virus. Also standing next to him is Joe Kessler. The character played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan encourages him from the start to take drastic measures. He wants Homelander dead and nothing seems to stop him or cause him any problems with his conscience. However, some fans have established a theory that holds water. Joe Kessler would not really exist and would be like Butcher’s wife, a hallucination!

The Boys Season 4: This fan theory about Butcher (Karl Urban) and Joe Kessler (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will turn your brain inside out

If fans came to this theory, it’s because they noticed that Butcher is the only one who has interactions with Joe Kessler. Even Seemer doesn’t seem to react when the CIA agent speaks to him. It is clear when watching the scenes again that they are not wrong. On Reddit, Internet user Lots_Sword wrote: “With the end of episode 5, a theory about Butcher begins to make sense. I’ve seen a theory that Becca and Kessler are two sides of the same coin. With Butcher having visions of Becca with Compound V, I think this character is also a vision of Butcher. It’s true that Becca has shown to set him on the right track throughout the season, as Kessler surrounded him when he was in a bad way, encouraging him to do bad things“. Other fans immediately thought of the film Fight Club with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton and made a connection with the characters of Karl Urban and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. For them, Butcher would actually be talking to himself when we see him having a conversation with Kessler. The latter would be a projection of himself. A theory which actually holds water and which offers a real turnaround. And you what do you think ?
