Detective series have fascinated viewers for a long time now and the screenwriters have an almost inexhaustible way of drawing inspiration from literature. We saw it with Harry Bosch, the hero imagined by Michael Connelly, who was entitled to his own series and even a spin-off. On November 14, the Prime Video streaming platform put online Crossan eight-episode series featuring detective Alex Cross, the main character of a series of novels by James Patterson, and already played in the cinema by Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry. A police officer like no other since he also has degrees in psychology and forensic medicine. It is the actor Aldis Hodge who this time lends his features to the hero of this resolutely dark series, guaranteed to please fans ofCriminal minds. After a first season rich in intensity, Ben Watkins, the creator of the series, spoke to the American site The Hollywood Reporter about the end of season 1 and the sequel Cross. While the end of season 1 suggests that Agent Kayla Craig (played by Alona Tal) could become a real threat to Cross and Sampson in the future, Ben Watkins indicated: “It adds a new layer to Kayla. They’re two little harbingers of what’s going to happen in season two. It’s a very important part for us.”
Cross : season 2 already confirmed!
Fans of the thriller series, number 1 on Prime Video’s top in just 24 hours, don’t have to wait to find out if Cross will return for a season 2. Prime Video had already renewed the detective series Cross in April 2024, several months before the launch of season 1. Better still, it has even already been filmed! The creator revealed that he already had in mind the sequel to Cross. “We want this show to last ten seasons, but in my head I already had a four-year plan, and it’s based on some things I want to do to tap into and pay homage to the characters in the book series. Alex Crosshe explained, also revealing that he had sown seeds for the rest of the series in the first season.
Cross : a new murderer in season 2
If Ben Watkins revealed that he did not know that the series was renewed before the end of season 1, he revealed the outlines of the next season, while remaining extremely vague. In season 2, Alex Cross will face a new murderer: “In the second season, you will see the seeds from the first season begin to bear fruit. For others, you will have to wait until the third season, but they are strengthened in the second season”he explained before concluding on the subject: “As a viewer, I feel that when we enrich the stories with […] different angles for the characters, I enjoy the experience more. So that’s what we did.”
