The long-awaited arrival of Orianna
Fans suspected it very strongly, and episode 5 of season 2 ofArcane has finally offered them the long-awaited answer: the character of Singed, well known to players of League of Legendsactually has another name. It is therefore Corin Reveck, who developed the Shimmer, the purple drug of the underworld, in order to cure his daughter and thus save her from certain death. It was also with this goal in mind that he created the monster Warwick, a bloodthirsty beast related to Vander, Vi and Jinx's adoptive father.
If this immense revelation offers many long-awaited answers, notably on the origin of the Shimmer and the motivations of Singed, for some very attentive fans, all this is not a surprise. Since the broadcast of season 1, in 2021, several theories had circulated around the identity of the scientist, who would therefore be linked to Corin Reveck. What if Arcane has not yet revealed the name of his daughter, fans of League of Legends will have immediately recognized the face of a very important playable champion: Orianna.
Who is Orianna in League of Legends ?
In the lore of League of LegendsOrianna is thus the daughter of Corin Reveck, therefore, a craftsman from Piltover who transformed her into a mechanical creature in order to save her from death. One day, the young woman decided to come to the aid of the inhabitants of Zaun, struck by a terrible explosion, spreading a highly toxic gas. Against her father's advice, she went to the underworld to help the victims.
But the consequences were terrible for her and Corin then threw himself into an ambitious project: making her artificial lungs, to cure her of a serious illness. Little by little, other organs of Orianna failed in turn, to the point that her father had to replace each part of his body, one by one. Ultimately, only the young woman's heart was preserved and even her memories “appeared to him now like tales”.
But if time now seemed frozen for Orianna, her father continued to age. To save him, she turned to a Chemistry Baron, who gave her a Hextech crystal. Thanks to this technology, she was able to build a new heart and made a terrible decision: to offer her real organ to Corin, to allow him to live, then to leave. When he woke up, the craftsman found his workshop empty, except for hundreds of figurines, made by Orianna herself. According to the official encyclopedia of League of Legendsone of them particularly stood out: “a golden dancer pirouetting in an eternal ballet”.
Arcane opts for a rather daring bias in this season 2
This story strongly resonates with that of Singed/Corin Reveck in Arcaneespecially since in the room which shelters the unconscious Orianna, there is a very important detail: a ballerina entirely covered in gold, placed in a music box. So, if the Netflix series never pronounces the first name of the champion of LoLthere is no doubt that Orianna is indeed present in Arcane.
This means that season 2 opts for a rather daring choice: mixing two protagonists from the world of League of Legendsnamely Singed and Corin Reveck. It is true that in the lorenothing suggests that these are truly two very distinct characters. Singed is even described as a former resident of Piltover, like Corin. So while waiting for the grand finaleArcanescheduled to be released on November 23, 2024 on Netflix, one thing is certain: you should never underestimate the fans, who had the answer on hand from the start.
