Season 1 ofAndor ended on November 23, 2022, but what do we know about season 2 of the (great, if not better) series Star Wars from Disney+?

While the adventures of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) were being broadcast on Disney+, a season 2 was already in the studio’s plans. And we won’t complain about it given the quality of the Star Wars series.

WHAT IS THE POSSIBLE RELEASE DATE FOR ANDOR SEASON 2?

To date, no release date has been announced for season 2 ofAndor, which should no longer be desired for very long. Filming was initially scheduled to end in August 2023 (after starting in London in November 2022), but the actors’ and writers’ strike decided otherwise.

It was therefore only on February 9, 2024 that actor Diego Luna formalized the end of filming for this season 2, which should therefore not arrive before early 2025 (at the earliest).

What will Andor season 2 be about?

In an interview for Total Film in September 2022, then at the microphone ofEntertainment Weekly in June 2023, screenwriter Tony Gilroy gave hints about the construction of season 2, which will begin sometime after the season 1 finale and take place over several years, leading up to the events of the film Rogue One : A Star Wars Story. According to him, there will be four ellipses in the season, so as to retrace four years of combat against the Empire in 12 episodes.

Furthermore, this season 2 will have to show us a Cassian Andor fully devoted to the rebel cause, but also disillusioned with this war, as he is in Rogue One. Still according to the showrunner:

« The Rebel Alliance emerging on Yavin is a bit like the Christian Democracy: a united group, but in danger. What happens to all the original gangsters and most determined rebels who paved the way? What happens to them and how do they fit into the Alliance? This is the objective we have set ourselves and the game we are playing. We have a responsibility to the characters we brought and released into this world. »

What do we know about the Andor season 2 cast?

Pour Total FilmTony Gilroy confirmed that many new characters would be in season 2 (but without any official announcement), in addition to the return of many personalities discovered in season 1:

“The cool thing is we’re going to introduce some new characters in the second half, but there are 25 to 30 characters that we’re bringing back after season 1. You already know them, you already know a lot about them . »
