“The Voice”: after disappointing audiences, TF1 will make big changes

Like season 12, season 13 of “The Voice”, which ended with Alphonse’s victory, experienced rather low audiences for the program which led TF1 and production to think about changes.

Season 14 has already been confirmed, and the new season of “The Voice Kids” is in production and will be presented to the press this week. The “The Voice” franchise still has a future. But faced with an erosion of audiences which has accelerated over the past two years, production must find how to revitalize the program.

Even if the target scores remain correct, management believes that the results weaken too much once the blind auditions are over. » confided an employee of the chain to Le Parisien. According to a producer, the channel therefore decided to simplify the game mechanics.

Currently the blind auditions are broadcast for seven weeks. Then the coaches lighten their teams via “battles” (2 candidates from the same team sing together, the coach keeps only one), during three broadcasts. It’s then the turn of the “cross battles” (2 shows), where the fate of the talents is in the hands of the public, or rather the 201 people present in the studio. Added to this are the “super cross battles” with, for two seasons, the intervention of a 5th guest coach. Then it’s time for the semi-final and then the final, the only live stage. It’s long and it’s complicated.

New coaches?

To restart the machine, it would undoubtedly be necessary to shorten the program and simplify the stages by eliminating the “super cross battles”, or by forming smaller teams at the start. Like with kids.

The success of “Star Ac” and live public votes could also make the channel think about putting back more live broadcasts. Their number has in fact been reduced from year to year to align with “The Voice Kids” with only the live final.

On the coaching side, there could be a big upheaval. According to information from Le Parisien, there are many renewals and Juliette Armanet has been approached.

In any case, with several million euros invested in the opening of cafes reproducing the world of the show, now is not the time to weaken the brand. The first of these establishments opens in the North on June 27 in Villeneuve d’Ascq, near Lille.
